From next February, though, you'll be able to see Denise Welch somewhere new - in the fiction section of your local bookshop.
Though she has two volumes of autobiography under her belt, If They Could See Me Now - published by Sphere in February - marks her first stab at a novel.
"This is a story that I've wanted to tell for years," she said. "I just hope readers love my heroine, Harper, as much as I do."
A second novel will follow as part of a two-book deal.
